Here is a list of useful tips and advice for your Scanvogn trailer use. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Prepare the portable cabin trailer for driving (see disconnection). Screw down the nose wheel -position tightly and screw the support legs right up.
Reverse vehicle to and place the coupling connection on the towball. Pre grease if required. Check it is sitting correctly (making a click sound).
Attach the safety break-away wire to the car and put the power socket into the car's socket. connected applicable chains. Check all the driving lights are working.
Retract the jockey wheel up and release the handbrake. Check there are no cables touching the ground. Check the handbrake is in working condition and released. Check all around trailer once more.
Close and lock all cupboards, windows and doors. Secure any loose fittings and place internal heavy objects over the axle.
Before driving - be aware of strong side winds. This also applies to wind that occurs when overtaking.
On gradients, change down the gears in plenty of time and before sharp bends. Always keep a safe braking distance from the vehicle in front.
Never drive excessively fast down a hill. Engine brake with gearing, remember you are driving two vehicle weight loads.
Put the handbrake on and turn the nose wheel down. Remove the electrical socket and safety wire. Then release the cabin.
On soft ground, place plates under the support legs. On sloping ground, place wedges in front or behind the wheels.
Screw the support legs down so that the cabin is horizontal. The angle on the legs should be at least 45 degrees from the cabin.
Turn the nose wheel up and release the handbrake. If it is left for a long time, the brake shoes can get stuck.
Turn off the water heater by turning the thermostat to zero. Drain down all water from tanks. (It must not be switched on without refilling water completely) .
Find the electrical inlet. It will be in the technical compartment or on the side of the chassis under the cabin.
Connect the electrical cable and switch on all switches. If the cabin has a waste disposal, connect it and switch it on.
If the cabin has a battery, it will be automatically charged when connected and while in use.
Rinse all hoses through first and after use to ensure no dirt/solids enters the water installation.
Find the water inlet. It will be in the technical compartment or on the side of the chassis under the cabin.
Connect the water hose and turn off all drain cocks. Turn on the water and then the main tap.
Open hot tank drain until water flows out -then close.
If the cabin has a water tank you can fill the tank or connect the water directly to an external water supply. This may require an additional supply pump for increased water pressure.
For cabins with disposal units use a 1' hose. For cabins without disposal units use a 110 Ø pipe.
Find the drain inlet. It will be in the technical compartment or on the side of the chassis under the cabin.
Connect the hose/drainage pipe. If the toilet has a toilet disposal unit, remember to connect it and switch it on.
If the cabin has a drainage tank you can fill the tank or connect directly to an external drainage system.
First switch off the water heater and disconnect the water supply. Open drain off taps to evacuate water. (Heater must not be switched on without water refill)
Empty all toilets by flushing them one last time -freshwater only, with water supply off Empty cistern. Then disconnect the drain hose.
Empty the water heater and hoses by opening all the drain valves. The number may vary.
Finish by disconnecting the power cable. Remember to clean the cabin if you have rented it, ensure any splashed water has been wiped dry.
First switch off the water heater and disconnect the water supply. (It must not be switched on without water)
In cold zones, pour suitable frost fluid in all sinks, toilets and showers, to prevent pipe damage.
Switch on/open all taps and showers, drain off valves so the hoses empty of water.
Empty all toilets by flushing them one last time. Water supply closed, empty cistern contents. Then disconnect the drain.
Empty the water heater and hoses by opening all the drain cocks. The number may vary.
Finish by disconnecting the power cable. Remember to clean the cabin if you have rented it.
NB: Leave the heating on in the cabin and the technical compartment, for as long as the cabin is in use.
NB: Make sure you air it at least once a day to reduce damp in the cabin.
Fill the water tank by turning the lock (triangle) and pressing the lid in. The tank can hold approx. 65 L.. When using hose pipe -ensure hose is in at least 200mm and pressure is low.
Empty the sink - pressing on the foot pump and again. The used water will run into the toilet.
Pump the handle on the side of the toilet, to flush the toilet with water.
Ensure seal connection to hose or suitable wastepoint. Pull the handle to empty the toilet tank. Flush through with fresh water to clean.
The wheels must be tightened with a pressure of 90 Nm (9 kilo) regularly. Pump pressure to the tyres according to manufacturers tyre settings.
Use a grease gun to oil the 3 grease nipples on the handbrake and nos e(jockey) wheel. Use a spray or cloth to lubricate the 4 spindles for the support legs. Lubricate all moving parts including lock's etc. Wash and wax complete trailer to remove excess dirt, acid or alkali material -regularly
• There must not be any people in the cabin during driving or transport.
• There must not be any loose parts/furniture in the cabin during driving. Close and lock cupboards, windows and doors. Ensure doors are double locked.
• Make sure any heavy objects are placed in the centre above the axle, and restrained before driving.
• Make sure that the electrical or braking cable tor chains hat connects the cabin to the car does not touch the ground while driving.
• When trailer is positioned, screw the support legs down so that the angle from the cabin is at least 45 degrees. The support stands are only for support and cannot carry the cabin or for raising the cabin.
• Plugs must not be loaded with more than 2200 W or the specifically rated /supplied products.
• Do not cover heat sources, panel heaters - to reduce fire risk.
• Do not throw sanitary towels, wipes or similar into the toilets as it can block them and damage the waste disposal unit.
• Never use scouring agents or strong cleaning fluids or scouring pads to clean. Only use mild detergent solution.
